So this was a particularly fun one! Friend of mine loves gadgets, fidgets and office toy like things. So i decided to make him a little brain teaser puzzle that would be fun to put on your desk or just put on a shelve in the living room to intrigue people.
I found this awesome website where Erhan put up loads of DIY puzzles.

After browsing all the puzzles for wayyyy too long I decided on a simple knot design. I tried making a sample piece just to see how i would approach making it and if i could even get the dimensions right. That worked out just fine so i decided het head straight into making it from some wood i had picked up off marktplaats. Not sure what it was, but the dark color seemed to be a great look for the puzzle!
Drew out all the dimensions on paper and then on the pieces themselves and started chiseling away.

In hindsight there were better ways to get rid of most of the material and then clean up the difficult insides with a chisel, but i just powered through regardless.

First 2 pieces done.

Timmy made a boo boo. At the end i wanted to clean up the edges on the little 'claws' on my crosscut sled and went too far in and cut into the side. Fixed that with a little leftover piece and turned it into a design element 😉 See the next pic for the end result.

Rounded off the edges with my trim router and sanded them down. Finished them with some wax to make them glossy and slide easily.

All finished! here they are separated. If you are to make this puzzle, once you give it to people make sure the pieces are separate. The puzzle itself is quite easy once you know how they fit together, so giving it unsolved gives them a nice 5-10 minutes of playtime 😜
