Howdy, I’m Tim! Timothy. Or Fokker. Whatever suits!

I like good design like anyone else. However I like design that works. More specifically, for human interaction. There are some terms that describe this such as user centered design or human computer interaction. Speaking more broadly I like to think of user experience design; a term that in recent years has become more and more important for digital businesses.

And it has given me a lot of motivation and inspiration! Back in the 90s, when the first webpages started to emerge and i was still a youngster trying to figure out how to play Prince of Persia via DOS, we were already happy if we could set up a webpage with information. If you look at where we are now, 20-30 years later, we are designing this technology to be intuitive, as if things just work as we expect. This move in technology and design is what brought me into the UX field.

We, as the human race, are making so much technology! It’s unbelievable! What’s even more unbelievable is the amount of user interfaces we struggle to use due to the fact there was not enough thought put into the design. This is a shame, there are some great products out there that would be so much more useful to humans if we just put some more time and effort into understanding who is going to use it, what they are going to use it for and how they are going to interact with it.

I like to think of myself as a empathic person; I want to understand these struggles, joys and thoughts people have so I can be able to help amend the relationship between the technology and its user. As we notice that user experience becomes less and less about visual design and more about understanding the user, it’s all the more important to listen to them and understand their motives. I love the quest to understand the user and really make something the user will use with joy!

I’m currently working on getting more of my work online, but if you would like to get a general idea of how it work, pop over here!
